Building a Hardware Interface

Introduction

In order to be able to control home easy components from your computer, you will need to construct a suitable interface between your computer and the home easy "network". In most cases the easiest way to make the actual connection to the PC is via a microcontroller like the Arduino or BASIC Stamp.

There are a couple of different approaches to this :

Constructing a 433Mhz transmitter / receiver controller

There are a number of suitable transmitter / receiver components available which are relatively straightforward to interface to with a suitable microcontroller.

Modifying existing Home Easy hardware

Another approach (at least for transmitters) is to hook into an existing home easy remote.

The following are some examples of doing this :

• Switching a remote with an Arduino
• Extracting the receiver / relay circuit from a socket receiver
